A drummer for the UK Subs was on a tv show called “Nothing but the truth” a few months ago. Charlie was there too but it was the drummer who had to answer truth questions. He is actually the son of a local music promoter in Coventry and is probably in his early twenties.

then he's not one of the original,... UK Subs had a lot of people go thru, from 1977 to present day they've had like 20 or 30 different drummers and bassist and guitarist ... 20 - 30 for each instrument! im pretty sure the bassist from Simple Minds played for them in like 1977, Derek Forbes ... i think .. its the same guy ... i dunno really ... anywhoooooooooooo......

.....there were 2 early line ups that most people consider the main line ups .... i think the most known line up is/was

Nicky Garret on git
Alvin Gibbs on bass
Steve Roberts on da drums
and of course Charlie Harper on vox ...

thats the 1980 - 1983 or 84 line up .. maybe the 1979 thru 198whenever ... they have reformed and when they do its a big deal ... exceot for Steve,,, think he doesnt always ...

they even did at least one later lp in 1988, killing time .. its a good one too ...

so if the dudes in his 20s hes just jail bait to charlie lol

So far this month I am only going to see To The Bones (with Zico Chain) at Islington Academy on 26th.  I love this band, they are from Bolton and have a true sense of rock n roll and silliness.
I would like to go to the dogbones thing in Feb at 333 Nirvana whatnot but I think it would be too nostalgic for me and might be a bit upsetting somehow. I might just go anyway. I hope they play something off Bleach or at least pre-Nevermind, though, as I felt everything after Bleach had too much outside influence and not enough rage,  but that is my own blinkered opinion anyway. I have seen Nirvana so I was bothered with them but they were completely dead / lifeless / had no feeling live by Nevermind (when I saw them) and I sadly gave away my nirvana t-shirt in disgust.

Allisi's Ark @ Cafe Oto this Friday.

Quote
Alessi’s Ark is 19 year old Alessi Laurent-Marke. Her beautiful debut album, Notes From The Treehouse, was released in May 2009, featuring full band versions of some of the songs from her Bedroom Bound EP as well as newer creations. The album also featured many musicians that inspired her to begin making music including Jake Bellows of Neva Dinova and Nate Walcott from Bright Eyes. It was recorded in Nebraska by another inspirational figure to Alessi, producer Mike Mogis.

Cate Le Bon @ The Lexington, Thursday, March 11

Quote
Welsh chanteuse Cate Le Bon first released a Welsh language EP Edrych yn Llygaid Ceffyl Benthyg back in 2008, and her much-lauded debut full release (put out by long-time collaborator Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals) My Oh My provided equal measures of hauntingly beautiful folk and unpredictable, experimental psychedelia. Calling to mind the dark storytelling ways of Nico, full of strong references to her surrounding clan of musical collaborators in Gorkys Zygotic Mynci or the aforementioned S.F.A., Cate also featured in Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip's Neon Neon project on bass guitar and vocals.

I was toying with the idea of eighties matchbox at Bedford, but money is tight on minimum wage!

I am, however, going to see Evelyn Evelyn at Bush Hall next Sunday, and Mark Lanegan in Wolverhampton the following Sunday. His solo tours are so rare that I couldn't miss it. Plus maybe a Dogbones gig or two in May!

Enjoy Ireland Nik!

I understand about having to choose between gigs but I am very fortunate to have most of my tickets bought for me. I have only paid for the Eighties Matchbox tickets at the Macbeth out of that lot, and that was because they were very limited and I needed to get them asap.  I can honestly say that many of my favourite gigs over the past few years have been free gigs in pubs.  If you can go to see eighties matchbox I would advise it!  I would MUCH prefer to see them out of London but I am going to the London ones for the sake of convenience. I have put a notification request on scarlet mist for mark lanegan tickets. Whiskey for the holy ghost was the first CD I ever bought (before I even had a CD player) and is one of my favourite ever albums. I have seen him on his own only once (in '98) but have also seen him with Queens of the Stone Age and I need to see him live again!

I hope you enjoy your mark lanegan gig, in any case!

That must be the coolest 'first cd' ever! Beats 'Now 732' anyway. I've seen Lanegan with QOTSA, with Isobel Campbell, with Soulsavers, and with Gutter Twins (all twice each); but never doing a solo set. I am just hoping that he manages to get here in time or I will cry.

On Sunday I'm going to Download, just for the day.

The off to Poland - a week on Wednesday it's Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.  I'm only really going for Metallica - and because I got a free ticket.
